Physical Environment, Environment of Care and Life Safety Code Survey Issues

About
The number of deficiencies in the physical environment condition of participation and the environment-of-care standards has continued to increase over the last several years. This session will review commonly cited physical environment deficiencies and most frequently cited Life Safety Code deficiencies. CMS updates on these areas including expectations on ligature resistant environment, CMS categorical waivers, air pressure and humidity concerns in surgical suites.
Learning Objectives
- Describe and identify common physical environment deficiencies.
- Describe how and when relative humidity may be lowered in anesthetizing locations.
- Explain how to avoid these common deficiencies.
- Explain how to use a categorical waiver.

This program is intended for all hospitals and health systems including general acute hospitals, CAH, rural emergency hospitals, and anyone involved with compliance regulations and standards, including but not limited to facilities staff including health care engineers, maintenance staff and EVS staff, governing board members, chief executive officers, chief medical officers, chief nursing officers, physicians, on-call physicians, nurses, quality improvement staff, risk managers, compliance officers and legal counsel, regulatory readiness liaisons, safety officers, department directors, and other interested staff.
Fee
