Agenda
Building Safer Care Environments: Non-Escalation, De-Escalation, and Personal Protection in Health Care
Health care professionals face increasingly complex workplace violence and safety challenges that require both proactive communication strategies and practical personal protection skills. This interactive training, based on Vistelar’s Healthcare Workplace Violence Practitioner Course, equips participants with evidence-based techniques to prevent escalation, manage conflict, and respond safely to high-risk situations. Through a combination of discussion, scenario-based learning, and hands-on practice, participants will explore trauma-informed care, empathy-driven communication, crisis management, and the principles of non-escalation and de-escalation. The course also introduces practical personal safety and escape tactics designed to enhance staff confidence and preparedness while supporting a culture of dignity, respect, and safety for patients, visitors, and team members.
