Identifying Drug Overdose Patterns and Novel Substances via the MNDOSA Program
Date: Monday, Jan. 13, 2025
Time: 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Description: The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) developed the MNDOSA (Minnesota Drug Overdose and Substance Use Surveillance Activity) program in 2017 to better understand substance misuse patterns, detect emerging drugs in our communities, and monitor cases of overdose resulting in hospital emergency care. Through partnerships with hospitals across the state and leveraging enhanced toxicology testing performed by the MDH Public Health Laboratory, MNDOSA offers near real-time insights into the substances being used, identifies potential overdose clusters, and informs clinicians, community partners, and the public about current trends to guide prevention efforts.
