During this virtual town hall, a panel of experts will facilitate a discussion with participants regarding COVID-19 best practices, challenges and innovations specific to surgery and procedures. Potential topics to be covered include case studies, personal protective equipment, testing strategies and a time for an open forum question and answer session. The event will foster learning and networking among hospitals and health systems statewide.

Speakers

Christopher W. Boelter, M.D. - Dr. Boelter is the physician Vice President - Specialty Care Division at CentraCare – Urology Clinic in Sartell, MN. He attended the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency at Mayo Clinic-Department of Urology. Dr. Boelter’s area of interest include urological cancers, women's health, Da Vinci robotic surgery, and laparoscopic. He is a member of the American Urological Association, American Urological Society and the MN Urological Society. Dr. Boelter is the current chair of the Minnesota Hospital Association’s Surgery and Procedure Committee.

Robert Quickel, M.D., FACS - Dr. Quickel is the Vice President of Surgery and Procedural Care and Orthopedics at Allina Health. Dr. Quickel attended the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA before completing his fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He practiced trauma surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center from 2001-2015. Dr. Quickel is the past-chair the MHA’s Surgery and Procedure Committee and continues to serve as an active member.

Mike Weis, MS, CRNA - Mike is the Anesthesia Manager at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater a seven OR community-based hospital within Health Partners with about 5,000 cases per year. Mike is actively involved with multiple Health Partners committees including the Perioperative Practice Steering Committee and the Valley Opioid Reduction Committee. He is also actively involved with the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists as an immediate past board member of 3 years. Mike earned his Master of Science in Anesthesia from Mount Marty College in South Dakota in 2010.

Peter H Kelly, M..D, MHA - Dr. Kelly is a general and bariatric surgeon, practicing surgery in St. Paul for 30 years. He is the vice president and executive medical director of M Health Fairview Perioperative Services and senior medical director of the M Health Fairview General Surgery Service Line.

Continuing education
